Donating to the Thrift Store

Thrift store donations help stock our shelves and fund our programs. They also make it possible for us to offer good quality clothing and household items at affordable prices.

We accept donations from 10am–3:30pm Tuesday through Friday.

Please note: We sometimes receive items that aren’t in a condition that allows us to resell them. This leaves us with the cost of disposing or recycling them, which cuts into the funds we need to help our client families. In general, if an item is damaged, stained, worn out, or very dirty, we won’t be able to use it. Sharing Hands reserves the right to decline any item we believe does not fit our guidelines.

Here is a basic list of items we cannot accept:

  • Used building materials or plumbing fixtures
  • Fluorescent bulbs or ballasts
  • Mattresses
  • Infant furniture, car seats, strollers, etc.
  • TV screens
  • Anything broken or not working
  • VHS or cassette tapes
  • Used consumer products (open shampoo, burnt candles, etc.)
  • Household chemicals
  • Propane tanks or fire extinguishers

Sharing Hands is a 501(c)(3) organization; your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.
